5 Ways to Listen to Your Partner
Listening to your partner encourages closeness. But how do you show that you are in fact listening? Here are 5 ways…

2. Reflective Responses: Paraphrase or summarize what your partner has said to confirm understanding and show empathy. For example, "It sounds like you're feeling frustrated because of..."
3. Ask Clarifying Questions: Show interest and deepen your understanding by asking open-ended questions to encourage your partner to elaborate on their thoughts and feelings.
4. Validate Emotions: Acknowledge and validate your partner's emotions without judgment. Express empathy and understanding by saying things like "That must be really difficult for you" or "I understand why you feel that way."
5. Avoid Interrupting: Allow your partner to fully express themselves without interrupting or jumping in with your own thoughts. This demonstrates respect for their perspective and encourages open communication.
